For, this is one place where encroachers are thriving unhindered. Almost all of it in the city is lost to encroachment. Many places, however, moot the idea of never having had one. Courtesy, Blancpain Watches booming road-side business. A walk down Aminabad is an evidence enough on how has the entire footpath been devoured by booksellers. Same is true of places like Alambagh, Talkatora, Mawaiya, Hussainganj, Burlington, Hazratganj and Nishatganj where encroachment by those selling shoes, clothes, fruits, watches, belts and what not, is rampant. And, congesting the already crowded places are PCO booths, barbers, cobblers, juice stalls, road-side temples and mosques, newspapers and magazine sellers. It is not only on main routes that footpath is encroached, side turns are even worse so much so that it is difficult to move on foot, leave alone driving a vehicle through. Although traffic department had recently launched a drive to decongest certain places, nothing has come out of the move. "We are hundred per cent incapable of controlling the encroachment at places. We can only go and chase away vendors but that is of no help unless there is the help coming from the area police," said superintendent of police (traffic) RK Srivastav. Where used to be people walking once, is now all other than pedestrians taking to it. No wonder, the place is being eaten up right under the nose of the authorities. And, this despite the fact that there have been orders from the high court from time to time to rid the footpaths of encroachment. Last one came as recent as Replica Glashutte Original Watches Handags Replica August 2006, as per which encroachment was to be removed by October 2006. Nevertheless, problem, instead of being curtailed is increasing. Encroachers are in no mood to relent, logic extended is, "We have been selling our things here for many years now. We have no place to go." However, keeping aside all versions, if solution to traffic congestion at some of the busiest crossings even at late night hours is to be found, encroachment has to go.
